There has been some talk lately of people copying my designs and such.  I was asked by my customers to provide my opinion, so here it is:

I am quite awe-struck that people would create their own coffin shaped gemstones from my ideas.  I feel honored.  As they say, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".  They also drive business right to my door when marketing them, so for that, I also thank you.

I would like to enlighten them (and anyone else) into the truth about selling coffin shaped gemstones (as I have since 1995).  It is a niche market.  You will never be a millionaire.  It is not a way to make a quick buck or latch yourself onto the next "fad".  You will invest your time (sometimes 22 hours a day, 7 days a week).  All of your money goes back into the business to both support it and make it grow.  But, on the upside, you do get to converse with some cool celebrities in the entertainment industry from being invited to vend at the national level, and if you love and admire the six-sided coffin shape, then it is also emotionally rewarding.  That's why I do it.

Now, comes the reason for filing my trademark.  I have had a couple of potential customers email me, asking for the price of a ring that I do not make (and never have).  Since there may be confusion out there between me and others, I have taken steps to differentiate myself from everyone else, hence, my trademark of "Coffin Gems", which will be prominently featured on any/all of my social media, website listings, sales, business cards, brochures, etc.  I want my customers to immediately recognize my designs, and to buy with confidence that they are getting my decades-long high quality standards, and, as such, if it doesn't say "coffin gems", then it's probably just a rock.
